Ausbildung Programme

  • Professional Traineeship (Ausbildung)

    1.What is the project about?

For many years our international partner has been discussing the need for a program, which addresses
the needs of the Youth in the Global South.

Given the rising demand from some international volunteers to stay in Germany after their
volunteering year, looking for either professional or educational opportunities, Our German Partner
has been working on developing a new program, which will integrate a professional traineeship
(Ausbildung) after finishing an international volunteer year in Germany.

The main goal remains, as in the “traditional” program: To empower young people to become an active
global citizen addressing the challenges our world is facing. At the same time it offers young people the
opportunity to gain a professional degree in Germany and as well as access to the German and
    European job market.

2.Some Facts – What is a Professional Traineeship (Ausbildung)?

A Professional Traineeship (Ausbildung) in Germany is a state-recognized educational program
designed to prepare for a job ,

In Germany, professional traineeships usually consist of two pillars: a theoretical part that takes place in
an educational center or professional school, and a practical part that takes place in a company or
service center. This is called dual educational system and is very appreciated in Germany and it is
    internationally recognized.

For our pilot project, we have partnered with an organization in Frankfurt am Main specialized in the
care/health sector. After completing the Traineeship participants will receive a professional degree in
care/ nursing that will allow them to work in the health sector in Germany and other EU countries.

The Traineeship lasts three years. During the Traineeship, students receive an income which should
    cover their living expenses.

3.Becoming a nurse, care worker in Germany

Participants of this program will first enroll in a regular volunteer year organized in cooperation with the
same German Partner in Frankfurt, who will coordinate the traineeship.

    Phase one: Learning German

  • Learning German
Interested participants will take German classes and will have to reach B1 level within one year (Note: this is very challenging for participants, who start with zero knowledge of German/strong time commitment will be necessary).
  • Duration: One year
    Phase two: volunteering
Volunteer year starts: September Every year
    Location:
Different Institutions from the German partner near Frankfurt am Main.
    Housing and Living Expenses:
Accommodation, food, and local transports will be provided by German Partner. Volunteers receive a pocket money as in the “normal” voluntary service with German Partner.
    Seminars, mentoring etc.
This phase is not different from the classic voluntary service program our German Partner offers. The only difference is: an Intensive German class continues all along the time of volunteering, participation being obligatory to reach language level B2.

Phase three: Traineeship to become a Nurse/care worker
    1) Language level traineeship:
B2 German is required before starting the Traineeship.
    2) Duration: Three years
    3) Location: Different Institutions from the German partner near Frankfurt am Main.
    4) Housing and Living Expenses:
Participants will receive a remuneration to cover basic living expenses. They will pay their own accommodation.
The German partner will provide affordable housing options

  • Theoretical Training:
Will take place at a specialized school in nursing and care work.
Will be regulated by a school contract.
      Will consist of block seminars.
  • Practical Training:
Will be regulated by a practical training contract with a nursing home, an
outpatient nursing service, or a hospital.
     Final exam:
Written, practical and oral parts of the exam will take place at the end of the studies (in German, of course).
If the participants fail in the theoretical or practical part the exams can be redone half a year later and the contract for Ausbildung will be prolonged for that time.
Diploma: After successful completion, the participants of the program will gain a state- approved nursing specialist/care worker Diploma.

    4. Language is key!1

  • Key is the desire, ability and time to learn German intensively before departing for Germany, as well as during the volunteer service.
  • Before the interview with the German partner, a minimum level of A2 must be attained by the participants.
  • Before traveling to Germany and the start of the volunteer year, participants have to have reached B1 level.
  • During the volunteer year, participants will continue to learn German. A B2 German level is a must before starting the Traineeship. As the decision for the Traineeship- candidates is taken by the local partner and the nursery school, B2 must be reached.

    5. Mentorship and Support
Our Partner in Germany will be providing mentorship and support during the First 2 years.
