What volunteers can child care projects get in to

Roles &Responsibilities of the volunteer

  • coordinating with teachers during classroom activities 
  • Teaching spoken English classes through activities 
  • Involving children to engage recreational activities like craft classes, painting etc.
  • Develop reusable teaching aids

  • Supervision of kids during play time or outing

Overview;

ICYEA India have 2 different child care projects who are dreaming to transform the lives of thousands of poor and deprived children into lives filled with health, happiness, promise and achievement. We believe that giving them access to quality education is the first and most important step towards this endeavour. The children’s home, is the first project of Foundation where we provide a home and facilities that help support & supplement the education

The projects run children group care homes for children from economically deprived section. The homes are run as units of 10 children each with about 4 staff members. The children are in the age group of 3-15. They will stay in the project during their schooling and will be visited by their parents and visit home twice a year

Program Requirements: 

  • Passion for children: This is the most important quality! You should have a genuine love for spending time with children and a desire to make a positive impact on their lives.
  • Patience and understanding: Children can be challenging, and it’s important to be patient and understanding with their needs and behaviours.
  • Flexibility and adaptability: Be prepared to adjust your plans and activities based on the children’s needs and interests.
  • Strong communication skills: You should be able to communicate effectively with children, caregivers, and other staff members.
  • Reliability and commitment: Be sure you can commit to regular volunteer hours and show up on time.
  • Cultural sensitivity: If volunteering abroad, be mindful of the local culture and customs.

Accommodation: The volunteer will live at the project site and avail her/his own room in sharing basis.

Location: It is located in Bangalore city. About 45 minutes by bus from ICYEA office to Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore urban or rural, distance from main cities, climate, internet, etc.

Duration: Minimum 4 weeks 12 weeks

Food will be provided by the host placement. Indian food would be Rice, Dhal, Chapati and vegetables. Mostly Indian people will eat spicy food. No special food will be considered for the volunteer unless the volunteer should fall ill and some kind of diet requirement.

 Practical & Additional Information:

  • Mosquito repellent (can be bought in Bangalore)
  • Light warm clothes for rainy weather and winter
